Scientific Advisory Board
The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) provides independent expert advice to the PEL Board on matters relating to strategic scientific and commercial development of the company. This would include matters such as providing insight into the latest environmental research and policy developments, identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnerships, and providing feedback on PEL's scientific methods and programs.
The SAB is chaired by Mr Robin Ormerod, a founder of PEL and Pacific Air & Environment, also an expert in air pollution and atmospheric science. Meetings of the SAB will be attended by other senior experts within the PEL group of companies, acting as observers contributing to new ideas and discussions.
The six inaugural Board members come from Australia, the US, the UK and Europe, and include the following experts in environmental pollution and climate change:
Dr Peter Best
|
Dr Best is an Internationally recognised consultant and researcher with interests in climate change, meteorology and air quality, and the commercialisation of scientific IP. He has over 30 years' experience in consulting, teaching and research & development, and was formerly the senior environmental physicist at the Queensland Electrical Commission. Dr Best has previously run successful businesses focusing on applied weather, climate, energy and risk assessment.

Professor Rex Britter
|
Professor Britter is Professor of Environmental Fluid Dynamics at Cambridge University, with expertise and research interests in turbulent fluid dynamics, dispersion of air pollution and the flow of hazardous materials in urban environments. He has worked extensively with UK, EU and US government agencies on policy development, and has recently been a member of steering committees on European energy and environment projects.

Dr Peter Manins
|
Dr Manins is an internationally recognised expert in air pollution, meteorology and modelling. He currently heads the CSIRO program on marine and atmospheric research focusing on air pollution, greenhouse gases and land and atmosphere exchanges. He is set to retire from CSIRO in mid-2008 after a distinguished career as a researcher, expert adviser and peer reviewer, often on projects of national importance.

Mr Ton van Harreveld
|
Mr Harreveld is the founder and chairman of the OdourNet group which operates in five European countries and Mexico, dealing with environmental annoyance caused by odour and noise. His work in the field of odour sampling and instrumentation and olfactometry has underpinned policy development in Ireland, Holland and the UK. OdourNet's instruments are installed in laboratories worldwide.

Dr Robert Yamartino
|
Dr Yamartino is one of the key international experts in the development of specialised air pollution models now used throughout the world and endorsed by the US EPA and other regulatory bodies. He has over 30 years' experience working in model development across wide ranging applications in areas including aviation, security, urban planning and industry. In addition to technical achievements, Dr Yamartino has also written extensively on his area of expertise, served as a corporate CEO and treasurer, and holds several US and non-US patents.

Dr Lauren Zeise

Dr Zeise is the Chief of Reproductive and Cancer Hazard Assessment within the California EPA, and also a member of the US EPA Science Advisory Board and the National Research Council (NRC) Board on Environmental Sciences and Toxicology. In her current role she oversees a variety of risk assessment activities and impact assessment methodologies. Dr Zeise has authored numerous publications, and has served on many high level advisory committees, and at bodies including the International Agency for Research on Cancer, Institute of Medicine, EPA, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
