Emissions estimation and inventory development |
) |
The first step in reducing pollution over a widespread area is to develop an emissions inventory. What you know, you can control.
With our skills in emission estimation protocols, database management and our in-depth knowledge of emission sources, PEL companies are perfectly positioned to help conglomerates and all levels of government develop large-scale regional emissions inventories.
Emissions inventories play a critical role in efforts to reduce pollution as they provide a detailed listing of the type of pollutants released to the atmosphere over a period of time and at a specific location, categorised by source type.
Emissions inventories allow organisations to assess the level and nature of pollutants in their area of responsibility in order to implement policies to reduce and manage these emissions. The end result is a cleaner and safer environment.
Some of the recent work we have performed in this area includes:
- The Greater NSW Metropolitan Region air emissions inventory which encompassed over 500 pollutants across 7,000 industrial and commercial facilities (released November 2007)
- The SE Queensland emission inventory for commercial industrial and area-based sources
- The national dioxin emissions inventory for industrial and mobile sources.
