TOXIKOS FOUNDER DR ROGER DREW APPOINTED ADJUNCT PROFESSOR AT MONASH UNI

Dr Roger Drew is a Founding Director and Principal Consultant of Toxikos Pty Ltd and has been appointed an Adjunct Associate Professor by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventative Medicine (DEPM) at Monash University. The DEPM is one of the peak research and teaching institutions in Australia in the field of environmental and occupational health (including environmental health based risk assessment).
Dr Drew routinely applies health based risk assessment to pragmatically advise risk managers (including authorities) on a wide variety of environmental and public health issues. In addition, Dr Drew provides scientific evaluations and advice to senior executives and legal firms in relation to evidence supporting/refuting cause-effect relationships between chemical/product exposure and adverse health effects in consumers, workers, the general public or the environment.
Roger Drew spent more than thirteen years conducting toxicological research first at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute in the USA as well as Flinders University in South Australia. He also spent ten years as the corporate toxicologist for ICI Australia. He is the only certified consultant toxicologist in Australia (Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology). Roger has acted as a toxicology consultant to Federal and State Health Authorities, was appointed to several standing National Health & Medical Research Council of Australia (NH&MRC) expert committees constituted for regulatory assessment of chemicals. He has been an invited member of many expert task groups of the World Health Organization for the International Programme on Chemical Safety. He teaches various aspects of toxicology to postgraduate and undergraduate students at Australian Universities and has published more than 40 scientific articles in toxicology. He continues to be actively involved in toxicological research by supervising postgraduate research programmes, reviewing research grant proposals for the NH&MRC and is on the editorial board of the scientific journal ‘Regulatory Pharmacology and Toxicology’. He is a member of several professional toxicological societies and is active in promoting and fostering the science. He is a recognised national and international expert in toxicology and risk assessment.
