Written on the 11th of April 2008

The ASX-listed enviro-technology company, Pacific Environment Limited (PEL), has announced the formation of its 'Scientific Advisory Board' (SAB).

Chaired by company founder and leading air quality expert, Robin Ormerod, the SAB comprises international authorities in environmental pollution and climate change management.

According to CEO, Geoff Masters, the role of the SAB is to ensure the company is up to date with the latest developments in environmental management and climate change, which are issues at the core of PEL’s business.

"The area we work in is dynamic and there are many forces at play so it's vital that we understand precisely what is happening and learn how to manage it in the best interest of our clients and the community at large," he said.

The SAB comprises internationally recognised experts from the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, and includes the following members:

• Dr Peter Manins, head of the CSIRO Living Atmosphere program of the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, which oversees research on climate change, air pollution and land and atmosphere exchanges
• Mr Ton van Harreveld, CEO, OdourNet group of companies - an expert on odour measurement and assessment and environmental noise who has conducted environmental policy development work in UK and Europe, and influenced odour policy world-wide
• Dr Robert J. Yamartino, internationally recognised expert on specialised air quality models, with major applications in urban and industrial pollution and aviation

For further details of each member.

"Effective environmental management is about knowledge and expertise which is why we are honoured to have such an expert team in place, people who are working directly in the field with up-to-the-minute experience," Mr Masters said.

The SAB will also give feedback on PEL's in-house developed technologies and methodologies, as well as keep an eye on opportunities to develop partnerships and collaborations with other like-minded firms and institutions, here and abroad.

According to Mr Masters the SAB will play a key guidance role in ensuring PEL remains relevant and vital in all areas in which it does business, and its input will offer benefits to all stakeholders – clients, staff and shareholders alike.

"Having access to such international expertise will ensure we continue to provide the highest level of service to our clients and also helps to build on the knowledge base within the company on a day to day basis".
