NSW AIR EMISSIONS INVENTORY RELEASED, PAE PLAYS LEADING ROLE

Written on the 14th of November 2007 by PAE

The Air Emissions Inventory for the Greater Metropolitan Region in NSW, made available today, is a detailed database of pollutants discharged to air, categorised into source types, time period and location. It includes emissions from all major sources of air pollutants, including biogenic (from natural sources) and anthropogenic (from human activity, e.g. industrial processes and motor vehicle usage) .

The Inventory will underpin efforts in formulating policies aimed at improving air quality in NSW.

PAE played a vital role in building the NSW Inventory, including designing and developing a powerful Emissions Data Management System (EDMS) under the leadership of emissions estimation expert, Kelsey Bawden.

The EDMS is a comprehensive system allowing the prediction of emissions in future years and scenario analysis required to develop sound air quality policy. The EDMS allows the direct preparation of atmospheric dispersion and chemistry models to predict air quality impacts.
